A Winning Story


This month’s short story, DUET FOR TWO WOMEN (Copyright©Arliss Ryan, 1991), won the Providence Sunday Journal’s annual short-story competition in 1991, placing first among 466 entries.  The kids and I were doing a craft project at the dining room table when the editor called with the news, and I had to signal them to be quiet so I could talk and sound intelligent.  When the phone call was done, the kids and I jumped and whooped.
